2010 Jewels

Happy New Year to all !!! Hope your 2010 will be a wonderful year.

Mine?? HA !!! End of 09 my computer crashed and required a call to Dell, almost 4 hrs later it is working, I lost my files (but have most on CD, haven't checked ..but hope my eulogy for Dad and my annulment paperwork is on it) But I did get my google tool bar back!!! Yes, spell check!!!

Prior to that, during the cold snap, my garage door opener went on strike. Looks like I might need a new door and a fix of the opener. (I've been opening myself, leaving it open until I return)

Took the car in for it's maintenance. I knew some brake work might be needed and there was a funny noise in the steering column. Needless to say....
$227 for parts, $450 for labor, peace of mind while driving ....PRICELESS!!

I'm having to play catch up with Medicare changes, that where put into effect in March and Aug. NO ADVANCE NOTICE. They changed reimbursement for meds (self adm drugs, even if it's RX med. In the outpt setting and ER. My Celebrax which had been covered until Aug, now needs to be billed by me to my part D. They stopped covering my valium and benadryl which they covered until March.

My MD and I figured out how to beat the system, give the valium and benadryl IV and I have a RX for Celebrax at home (take my cap. before I leave or up there) The bills after we switched are paid 100% But I had to pay $250 for the valium and benadryl charges ($32/ day.. I'm there 2-3x a month)

Also if you require an insulin inj while in the ER, not covered. My concern, what if they find you have a high glucose while testing you for the reason why you are barely alert?? Then it should be covered?? I would hope so!!!

Otherwise, it's been a good new year. Got through the first year with out Dad, all those firsts were hard. I know it's not easier, but I made it through it.

Until later....

So your computer crashed eh? I'm having probs with mine right now...I don't know if I've picked up something (but I really don't think so)...or if it's a DELL problem. Actually I can get on to our website here just fine, but I normally use Yahoo as my main page and I get most of my emails on Yahoo...however, I cannot get the home page, nor my yahoo email page to come up. And if it does open up it's after 10 minutes or so, and it lets me open up up just a couple of the emails. I can see who they are from, but the message won't open. And it sure is hard to leave a message to Yahoo that I have a major prob when they won't open up. Dang, I hate this stuff.

Anyway....so glad you made it thru 2009, but it will get easier and the memories will get sweeter. And I think when we've have a big loss, we really hold on to "life" and relish everyday...at least that's what I believe.

I know very little about part D on Medicare and think it would be great if you could write something that explains exactly how it works and what the easiest way (if there is one) how to pick where you will get your prescription coverage thru. Thru Jerry's military retirement we have Tricare for Life that comes into being when you turn 65 and we can use it as our Medicare Supplement. We get our prescription drugs thru Express Scripts mail order which works well for us. Generics are very inexpensive and those without generics are quite a bit higher, but still reasonable compared to most plans.

I guess I'm going to have to break down and give Dell a call soon...but somehow it could be Yahoo or maybe it's IE?? I am definitely NOT a geek.

Have a good one my friend!

SUMMER????

Today was our warmest day of the year 82 and this is June 23  We have had the wettest June, May and I think April. Nice and green.. but the veggies are not doing great, herbs have had to be moved or replaced  We are calling June "Junuary" Tomorrow will be 72 and cloudy. Then the rain returns!

My 35th HS class reunion is in Sept. The four of us that plan the reunions have a blast just planning them.

I'm having to do aqua-jogging (no belt) instead of lap swimming since mid April. My rt knee was injected with steroids. But still have problems. I've been trying to use the kickboard for 5mins working up to 15. Some days that doesn't feel good.

This awful weather has not been fun for the arthritis. But the days the sun peeks out are a treat! Today I finally put the cages around the tomatoes. I bought new ones and sprayed them green. The plants are maybe a foot tall.

Just rambling along.. time for dinner...

First of Aug.. and my tomato bushes aren't doing great.

Since I last posted.. 2 weddings done, one this month, Oct , and Nov. We have 3 so far for next year.
The wedding last weekend, was the one I most concerned about. And I was correct. But they are married and that's the important part.

Back to swimming a half mile and then aqua jogging in the shallow end.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with the Kyron Horman case. He's a litle guy who went missing from his grade school here in Portland on June 4. I use to go by that school when I'd drive out to see Dad in St Helens.
Still has not been found. The entire case has turned into a soap opera, sadly. But the Grand Jury is ramping up having people come in and testify.
Please say a prayer for this little guy. He's such a cutie.

July I received my certified in Basic Disaster Life Support. (For my work with the county and now the state) I'm looking forward to the Advanced certification. That class is hands on with all the gear.

This week I'm camp nurse at the yearly Basketball Camp I've helped at for the last 4 yrs.

And the big news.. I'm working on my resume'! It's been 22 yrs since I needed one. With the cost of living getting higher and SSD not keeping up... I'm looking at something one day a week. That's basically all I can work with out it hitting my Disability bennies.
I would prefer to work only Wed. That way it doesn't interfer with my IV treatments, MD appts, and my church duties.
I have a couple of leads. But we'll see what pans out.
